Here’s a story from espn.com about a few different things. Met up with Bonnie Ford on Sunday morning before the final stage. It’s rough to get out of bed that late into a stage race and try and be coherent…Hope you like it.

Needed New Post

California in January can be hit or miss, this year it was a huge hit.

Just finished up training camp camp with the OUCH presented by Maxxis boys in Temecula. After having a pretty average camp there in ‘07, there were some uneasy feelings about going back, but we didn’t take into consideration the fact that Floyd knows every inch of road, good and bad in the area. He took us into and through some hilly neighborhoods around town that left us gasping for air and unsure if the 39×25’s were going to be small enough to get up them. By the end of the week we had spent enough time humping the bars at 8kph digging over the rises that 400 or 500watts felt pretty damn easy. That doesn’t even take into consideration all the dirt roads that we hit, uphill and downhill. It didn’t matter. No one was sure whether or not we’d hit dirt around the next corner. Or blast over a little rise to find out that the downhill following was going to be 50kph over loose gravel. Always on our toes we were.
ouch

The team is great, everyone showed up ready to work, smile for the cameras and ready to do battle on the bikes. There was also a bit of karaoke tossed in there for the benefit of those unlucky enough to see it, live. Definitely a great vibe.

At 5:30am the final morning of camp, I woke up to log onto cxmagazine.com and helped commentate with Jake and Myles on Cyclocross Worlds. I stuck around to chat afterwards and answer questions. It really sucks to miss another worlds especially after seeing the course and knowing how I’ve felt on the bike in recent weeks, there was alot of regret bubbling up. I’ll get back to race worlds again soon. My 1st one was back in ‘96, so there’s plenty of memories to fall back on in the meantime.

Way Back, 2002 Zolder

Way Back, 2002 Zolder

I’m in Santa Barbara with Lyne for another few days before heading up to Sacramento for the start of the Tour of California. We’re enjoying the great riding here, our friends and now are waiting for the rain to stop so we can get outside.

Keep an eye out for the OUCH boys next week. I’m sure you’ll see us all over, trying to get on the podium at the biggest race of the year.

Look for Team OUCH for news

NYC Homies and Creed

Here’s an interview from Velocity Nation that I did a few weeks ago. The site is killer and made amazing by the ‘Creed Feed’ interviews. I’m really excited to say that there’s a point, coming up soon, where those of us who know and love Mike will be able to share our best examples of how this man affects us. How he shares his love and admiration for those around him. How he looks at the world, as only he can.
Ok, that’s enough about Creed. Read up yourself and figure out if you’d like to read more then get back to me.
In the meantime life here in Mass is nice and quiet. My cross season has come to a close and it’s now time to enjoy the middle of the Oreo. Road and Cross seasons don’t leave much time for much. Time to do the normal things that being idle allows. Couldn’t be happier.

Couple extras: Good luck to my boys Jeremy and Jamey(and Ry Ry) who finally made it to Belgium. It’s going to be great following them and I wish them the best. Check out the results from Nommay this weekend and Zolder the next.
Also, if anyone has Jeremy’s cell phone #, send him text messages. He loves it.

It’s been a great season, it just ended with a day that wasn’t all that much to write home about…The course was great, the people were nuts and everything about Nationals was as it should be. The only little problem was mine and that I didn’t show up with a whole lot of legs! Ryan killed it out there, just as I anticipated. Todd and I were locked in mortal battle while the young kids were head-down and drilling it with JP somewhere in-between. Jamey and Jesse are two of my bro’s and I couldn’t be happier for them. Jamey as he’s wearing the same jersey(and my gloves) and Jesse for being my good friend and dogsitter extraordinaire. Way to go guys.
Gimme a sec to nail some coffee and get this day started and I’ll toss up some good pics and videos. KC kicked ass.

From the cool people over at pdxcross.com. They have amazing slideshows of alot of great events in Portland. They do it right out there on the west coast. I just wish I could get out there more than just once a year.

I fixed the link below so now it just goes to the pdxcross.com homepage. The USGP gallery is just one of many killer slideshows. All of which smash my iPhone into smithereens…

It was a great weekend and a Series final that finally had some good news for me. I’d worn the leaders jersey too many times over the years without being able to take it home. Finally!

mmmm, delicious

mmmm, delicious

He’ll be meeting up with me for a little training camp with the coach. We’ll do fun stuff on the bike, hurt like hell and then have some fun afterwards. Also, I don’t mean to break this news without Karl’s consent, but he’s on his way to becoming the first/last Aussie to get out on a cross bike…shhh.

Now it’s Just Confirmed
